The Christmas Family Service was held in Slavin Church on Sunday 14th December

The theme of the service was the letter N, which was for ‘News’, ‘Nativity’ and ‘Now’. The service was led by Aoife Gregg, who welcomed everyone. The Readers were Ethan Johnston, Oisin Gregg, Cameron Duffy, Emma Kettyles, Carly Graham, Abi Brock, Levi Love and Skye Love. Prayers were read by Sarah Johnston, Clare Thompson, Blake Duffy, Levi,  Carly, Oisin, and Ryan Graham. Poems were read by Avril Thompson, Ethan and Sarah.

Ethan and Avril gave us examples of what was in the Fermanagh news on 11th December 2014 and then went on to tell us that the news of Jesus birth had been forecast by Isaiah many years. This news would change the world for ever. Gabriel also brought news to Mary, telling her that she  was to be the mother of a special baby.

The Nativity was put in place as Mary (Cara Brock) and Joseph ( Andries Ferreira)  came to the front. They were followed by the shepherds, Callum, Blake, Glenn Brock, and Ryan. The Wisemen (Aaron Gregg, Callum Gregg and Jake Gregg) then arrived to complete the scene.  The children the sang ‘Away in a manger’.
The final N word was placed on the board – ‘Now’.  We were told that Now, we have the chance to put Jesus at the centre of the Nativity and  at the centre of our lives. Jesus is for Now.

Ethan gave the final blessing and the service finished when the children sang ‘Great Day in Bethlehem’.
The rector Rev. Ngozi thanked the children for taking the service, the parents for supporting the practices, and all the Sunday School teachers who had met to put the service together and had trained the children.

A special thanks was paid to George Love who had spent much time and effort making a stand  for the board on which the children placed the key words
